Janyce showed artistic talent at the tender age of four. Growing up in Goodland, Kansas; she sketched portraits of family members, pets, and people around town. By the age of six, her drawings startled people as they saw an uncanny resemblance in her sketches. God blessed Janyce with dual artistic talents as a painter and musician; she played Chopin concertos by the age of ten. |

She became motivated as an artist early on by the works of
artists like: Norman Rockwell and John Singer Sargent. After receiving
formal art training at the University of Nebraska, Scottsdale Center for
the Arts, and later on at the Portland School of Art: Janyce launched a
career as a highly commissioned artist. While living in the Southwest, she
was represented by local galleries and exhibits such as: the Tempe Art
League Annual Juried Show, Arizona Wildlife Federation Art Show and Auction,
and Arizona Cowboy Artists.
She was then recruited to a successful Phoenix based Television show with a stint as a live on-camera illustrator. Janyce and her family followed their calling to the Pacific Northwest in the mid-eighties where she fell in love with the rugged terrain and explosive landscapes of the region. Cascading mountains, Northwest wildlife, and horizon-less waters soon fell to the canvas. In result, Janyce quickly established herself as a sought-after talent in the community. |
